- Moncayo joined three other composers to create a group referred to as the “Group of Four.” Together, the four musicians wrote music influenced by their pride for their country, Mexico.
- Along with being a composer, Moncayo was also a percussionist.
- Later in his life, he took composition lessons with Aaron Copland.
