• Bizet was a child prodigy. His mother was an accomplished pianist, and his father was a voice teacher. They gave Bizet his first music lesson.
• Bizet’s early keyboard and orchestral compositions were unsuccessful. It was not until later in his life that they became popular.
• His birth name was Alexandre César Léopold.
