- The flute is one of the oldest instruments. Early flutes were made out of animal bones.
- To play the flute, musicians hold it flat and blow their breath over the edge of the hole in the flute’s headjoint.
- The flute is one of the highest pitched instruments in the orchestra!
- Other common instruments in the flute family include the piccolo (smaller) and alto flute (larger).
